Please welcome Mathew Wood to Corpus Christi Comic Con!!
Matthew Wood has been a team member of Lucasfilm/Skywalker Sound for 30 years. He’s been nominated for Academy Awards five times in Sound Editing for his work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and recently Rise of Skywalker, as well as Wall-E for Pixar and There will Be Blood for Paramount.
Wood worked with George Lucas on all three Star Wars prequels as supervising sound editor, but he is best known for voicing General Grievous in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. In addition to voicing one of the most menacing villains of the Star Wars franchise, in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Matthew played the part of Bib Fortuna and voiced Ody Mandrell. In Star Wars Episode II – Attack of The Clones, Matthew voiced Magaloof and Seboca, and many Battle Droids.
Following the Star Wars prequels Matthew continued working on Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series where he reprised his role as General Grievous and every single Battle Droid in all their comic glory. After Clone Wars Matthew moved on to Star Wars: Rebels in which he voiced Storm Troopers, Klik-Klak and Battle Droids.
After working on the Star Trek reboots with JJ Abrams, Matthew moved into the Disney era at Lucasfilm with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Wood voiced numerous characters in TFA including; Ello Asty, Quiggold, the Guavian Enforcer and several Stormtroopers.
He then continued with Rogue One, voicing all the Death Troopers, Pao and Storm Troopers.
Next up was Star Wars Episode VIII -The Last Jedi. Voicing Rebel Pilot C’ai Threnalli and Storm Troopers. Solo: A Star Wars Story was shortly thereafter, where Matthew voiced Dryden Vos’ bodyguards and Imperial Security Droids. Finishing off the sequel trilogy in 2019, Matthew worked with JJ Abrams again voicing C’ai Threnalli and Storm Troopers in Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.
In between his film work, Matthew also voiced the beloved Battle Droid R0-GR in Lego Star Wars : The Freemaker Adventures. He also plays Kylo Ren and Battle Droids in Star Wars Resistance the animated series, in addition to General Grievous in Star Wars Battlefront II the video game. You can also hear his work in the Vader Immortal : A Star Wars VR series as Storm Troopers. Matthew also voiced many Storm Troopers and Jawas in Star Wars : The Mandalorian.
Matthew continues 2022 in his role as Supervising Sound Editor at Skywalker Sound and SAG voice actor on many upcoming projects.
